Abu Dhabi-based Etihad Airways and Scandinavian carrier SAS have entered into a strategic codeshare agreement aimed at enhancing passenger transfer convenience across both airlines’ networks.
The agreement coincides with the recent launch of Etihad’s nonstop flights between Abu Dhabi (AUH) and Copenhagen (CPH) on October 1, 2023.
Key Highlights:
- Passengers can now check in their bags and book a single ticket for itineraries that involve connections at each airline’s hub airports. This facilitates seamless travel for passengers connecting at Copenhagen to destinations across Scandinavia, including Oslo, Stockholm, Helsinki, Gothenburg, Bergen, and Aarhus. Similarly, travelers connecting at Abu Dhabi can continue their journeys across the Middle East, Africa, and Asia on Etihad flights.
- Members of both airlines’ frequent flyer programs, Etihad Guest and SAS Eurobonus, will have the opportunity to earn miles for segments flown with the partner carrier when booking a combined itinerary.
- The codeshare agreement will be effective from late December 2023 for direct bookings and from January 2024 for distribution through travel agents.
This partnership between Etihad Airways and SAS mirrors a similar agreement established earlier in the year between Qatar Airways and Finnair, which aimed to enhance connectivity between the Nordics and the Gulf region.
